POLICE: Man Crashes While Fleeing Police After Assault Call in Greenbrier

GREENBRIER, TENNESSEE (SMOKEY BARN NEWS) – A local man is in custody after police say he refused to stop Wednesday afternoon following a reported assault in the area of North Hillwood Circle in Greenbrier, the first call coming into 911 at 3:54 PM.

According to Greenbrier Police Detective Joseph Chelini, as police arrived on the scene, a red Impala—identified by the victim as the suspect’s vehicle—”was fleeing from the scene and refusing to stop for officers.” The suspect stopped at North Hillwood and Old Greenbrier Pike, which is located just a block up from North Hillwood Circle, but as more officers arrived, the suspect attempted to “avoid officers and elude, when he ran into the ditch,” Chelini said.” LOCATION OF CASH

The male suspect was taken into custody without further incident and transported to TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield with unspecified injuries. According to Detective Chelini, charges are pending.

All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
