POLICE: Woman Stabbed To Death In Springfield By Boyfriend

UPDATE: Suspect identified.

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A woman was stabbed to death in Springfield Thursday afternoon and Springfield Police were quick to apprehend a suspect.

At  6:39 p.m. Officers with the Springfield Police Department responded to a call regarding a person that had been stabbed at 2565 17th Ave East Apartments. MAP Police say that upon arrival, officers found a female victim who was unresponsive. She was transported to TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center and pronounced deceased.

According to Robertson County Emergency Medical Services Director/Chief Brent Dyer, “The patient was rushed to TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center’s Emergency Room where the woman succumbed to her injuries despite all efforts and treatments.”

Police say, the suspect was located at the scene of the incident and was immediately taken into custody by the responding officers. “The suspect is alleged to be the only other individual involved in the incident. The suspect and victim are believed to have been in a relationship and the crime does not appear to have been random,” Police said.

Suspect identified:

Officials have released the name of the suspect. Tremaine Montas Demumbrum, age 46 in currently being held at the Robertson County Detention Facility without bond and charged with Death: Homicide- Frist Degree Murder.

The name of the victim has not yet been released by authorities.
