PORTLAND TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Portland teenager has died just two days after a serious crash on North Harris Rd in Portland Wednesday evening.

The crash, which occurred on North Harris Rd. at Evergreen St., involved an ATV and a van. The first call went out at 7:42 pm Wednesday night. LOCATION OF CRASH

Three people from the ATV were transported to area hospitals following the crash.  Two sustained only minor injuries but a third, now identified as Cecilia Carter, 18 of Portland, sustained critical injuries.  Portland Police, Fire, and Sumner County EMS made every effort to stabilize Cecilia for transport. CPR was administered at the scene and Cecilia was transported via ground to a nearby hospital where she would continue on to an area trauma center via helicopter.

According to Portland (TN) Police Chief Jason Williams, the ATV (with three occupants onboard- including Cecilia) collided with a van. The ATV did not have functioning brakes at the time of the collision, Chief Williams said.

According to Chief Williams, Cecilia succumbed to the injuries she sustained in the crash early Friday morning. One occupant of the van sustained minor injuries. The other occupants (of the van) were uninjured.

Portland Police, the Portland Fire Department, and Sumner County EMS all responded to the scene. North Harris Rd was closed while officials investigated the crash.
