Pursuit Ends With Rollover Crash, Multiple Charges

GREENBRIER, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A decision to flee from police ended with a rollover crash and charges Thursday evening.

The incident occurred around 7:00 p.m. Thursday when a Greenbrier Police officer attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding in the area of Old Greenbrier Pike and Ebenezer Road.

According to Detective Joseph Chelini with the Greenbrier Police Department, the driver refused to stop and fled, leading officers on a high-speed pursuit. Due to safety concerns, the pursuing officer terminated the chase.

A short time later, officers discovered that the suspect vehicle had crashed into a ditch and rolled over. The driver was taken into custody without incident.

According to Chelini, investigators learned that during the pursuit, a nearby motorist was forced nearly off the roadway to avoid a head-on collision with the fleeing vehicle. Police say the suspect was traveling approximately 85 miles per hour.

The driver was identified as 20-year-old Caleb Michael Landaverde. He was booked into the Robertson County Detention Facility and charged with felony evading, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, driving without a license, no insurance, and speeding. Landaverde was released under a $10,500 bond.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported in the crash; however, the vehicle was totaled.

The crash remains under investigation by the Greenbrier Police Department.
