Retired Springfield Officer Terry Dorris Dies, He Was 63

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Former longtime Springfield Police Officer, Terry Scott Dorris, of Springfield died Thursday, July 19, 2018 at Vanderbilt Medical Center, he was 63.

Mr. Dorris was born January 17, 1955, in Robertson County. He retired from the Springfield Police Department where he was a canine officer. He also served in the United States Air Force for 6 years and then over 14 years in the National Guard. He was an avid wood carver and reader. He was an artist and loved riding his motorcycle.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at 1:00 PM in the Oakhurst Chapel of Robertson County Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery with full military honors.

Pallbearers will be Madison Burnette, Ed Lemley, David Joyce, Thad Dorris, Bobby Little, Danny Johnson, Mike Wilhoit, Haidy Grisby, Elizabeth Leonard, and Lee Dotson. Honorary pallbearers will be all the men and women that Terry served with in the military and police departments.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 4 until 8 pm AND Tuesday from 11 AM until the time of service.

He is survived by his wife, Dianna Dorris of Springfield; son, Travis Dale Dorris and wife Sharan of Ridgetop. Tribute Video & Photos
