Rider Injured In Tom Austin Crash In Springfield Friday Night

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A motorcyclist was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries following a collision with an SUV in Springfield Friday evening. The crash occurred on Tom Austin Highway, directly across from the Sonic restaurant, the first call coming into 911 around 5:30 PM LOCATION OF CRASH

The rider was transported to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville in serious stable condition. The debris field suggested a significant impact, with broken plastic and vehicle parts scattered across the roadway. After impact, the motorcycle slid approximately 30 feet. The Springfield Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, and the Springfield Police Department responded to the scene. If more information becomes available on the condition of the rider, we will certainly bring it to you.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP)  has taken over the investigation, as soon as they are prepared to release their findings, including the identity and condition of the motorcyclist, we will bring it to you.

Payne Towing recovered the motorcycle.

UPDATE: According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report obtained by Smokey Barn News, the crash occurred when a 2016 Jeep Patriot, driven by 32-year-old Priscilla B. Thomas of Tennessee, attempted to turn left from Ruth Street onto Tom Austin Highway. According to the report, the Jeep entered the path of a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle operated by 41-year-old Thomas Reynolds, also of Tennessee. The motorcycle collided with the rear driver’s side of the Jeep. Thomas had two passengers, a 15-year-old male and a 3-year-old male, both uninjured and wearing seatbelts. Reynolds sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital. Thomas was charged with due care and no insurance, while Reynolds was cited for operating the motorcycle without a proper endorsement.

Reynolds was seriously injured in the crash. We are working to get an update on his condition.
