Rite Aid Pharmacy In Springfield Closing

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The Rite Aid In Springfield has announced that they will be closing their doors effective June 13th.

The store is located at the intersection of Memorial and Tom Austin Hwy. MAP Customers are being told that their records are being transferred across the street to Walgreens.

Following a two year battle for regulatory approval, last year Walgreens acquired 1,932 Rite Aid stores for $4.38 billion, making Walgreens larger than CVS Health Corp, according to Bloomberg.

The addition of the Rite Aid locations puts Walgreens at about 10,000 stores in the U.S., compared with CVS’s 9,700. The deal leaves Rite Aid with about 2,600 locations. MORE

We have reached out to Walgreens Corporate on the disposition of the employees at the Springfield location but their fate remains is unclear.
