Rivergate Mall’s Merry-Go-Round: What The Heck Happened To It?
ROBERTSON/SUMNER COUNTY, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Who can forget that face? For decades, the charming merry-go-round, at the Rivergate Mall in Goodlettsville, Tennessee, attracted visitors from all over the Nashville area. She had a special beauty and charm you could only appreciate if you sat next to her or bright the kids for a ride. We’re guessing half of Robertson County has likely ridden on the old carousel and some may have even dated on it. This iconic carousel wasn’t just a ride; it was a central meeting point for families, friends, and couples from a circle that included Robertson and Sumner County. How many of you have enjoyed lunch next to the fancy eclectic ride?
But in March of 2016, the beloved feature up and vanished in the middle of the night (literally) without a trace, leaving behind one big mystery. Was it retired to storage all alone with only memories of smiles and laughter? Operated by a third party, even the mall was unsure of the carousel’s fate. That’s when we decided to find the old gal! The photos you see in this report were actually taken during the two-day removal operation which had to be done after mall hours for safety.
Smokey Barn News Tracks It Down
Determined to uncover its whereabouts, Smokey Barn News embarked on a mission to locate the missing merry-go-round. After days of research, the trail led us to The Track Family Fun Park, an outdoor entertainment facility located at 2505 West 76th Country Boulevard in Branson, Missouri. MAP She was up and running! The carousel, we’re happy to report, is still operational, though a storm damaged its canopy, which the park is working to repair. She’s outside now so you’ll have to check hours and whether before you make the trek. The ride remains in good shape though and appears to be well-loved.
For Robertson County residents, this discovery means those cherished childhood memories aren’t lost—they’ve just relocated 443 miles away, approximately a 7-hour drive from the heart of the county!
