Rob Co. Special Olympics Take Medals At State
ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Robertson County Special Olympics participated in the TN State Bowling Tournament. The athletes won several medals.
Area Director Mitzi Burton: “A big thank you to our athletes, coaches, and families for representing Area 24 in such a positive way!”
Coach Betty Smiley: “This year our ten participating athletes were all adults. All our athletes have different levels of disabilities but they all came home as winners, bringing with them gold, silver and bronze medals. Athletes coaches and family members had an awesome time supporting this great group.”
Gwen Stanley, Parent of Trent Stanley: “Special Olympics is something that everyone should experience. There’s a feeling of true sportsmanship and care for the other athletes.”
Nancy Hollingsworth, Parent of Ashley Hollingsworth: “Ashley looks forward to bowling in the fall and track and field in the spring. I’m thankful to Mrs. Burton and Coach Betty Smiley for the hard work and dedication they put into the program. It has become an important part of our lives.”
The Robertson County Special Olympics offers opportunities for athletes to participate in bowling, basketball, and track and field. They tell Smokey Barn News that they need volunteers to coach track, basketball, flag football and swimming. If anyone is interested, contact Mitzi Burton at [email protected].
