Robertson County Cancels Fair Due To Pandemic

ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The Robertson County Fair Board has just announced that they have decided to cancel the 2020 fair due to COVID-19, but, according to the board, it would have been great.

“We had great things planned for the 153rd Annual Robertson County Fair,” the board said in a statement Wednesday evening. “However, due to the COVID-19 and in the best interest of Robertson County residents, vendors, and all participants, the 153rd Annual Robertson County Fair has been cancelled for 2020.

“Currently, it is impossible to follow the Governor’s guidelines for large community events and still have the traditional County Fair everyone is accustomed to. Our grandstands normally seat around 4,000 but with social distancing guidelines, we would be limited to around 1,000.

“Per the guidelines, each attendee would have to have a temperature screening and answer 5 questions about recent health and activities. As an all-volunteer organization, we do not have the manpower to accomplish this. Currently, everyone would have to wear a mask and concession stands would have to follow the same guidelines as restaurants regarding packaging and seating.

“The Fair Board is heart-broken that it can not have the 153rd Annual Robertson County Fair this year, but we look to next year to come back better than ever. The Fair Board also encourages everyone to stay safe through these times and we look forward to seeing you at the fair in 2021.”
