Robertson County Man Arrested In Alleged Nissan Stadium Bomb Threat
ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE (SMOKEY BARN NEWS): A Robertson County man is facing felony charges after authorities say he sent a bomb threat targeting workers at the new Nissan Stadium construction site in Nashville.
According to Metro Nashville Police, 47-year-old Marque Henderson, who resides in Robertson County, was taken into custody in Lawrence County, Alabama, following an investigation by MNPD Specialized Investigations Division Detectives.
Police allege Henderson worked for a subcontractor connected to the new Nissan Stadium project.
Authorities say a manager with Turner Construction Company, the lead contractor on the project, received a text message Tuesday night from a person claiming to be from Saudi Arabia. The message allegedly warned there would be a bomb inside the building between 6 a.m. and 12 p.m. that would “blow up the workers.”
Turner Construction reportedly notified Metro Police immediately and, out of an abundance of caution, canceled work at the stadium site on Wednesday.
According to investigators, detectives determined the threatening message was sent using a burner cellphone. Emergency disclosure requests to multiple service providers allegedly led investigators to Henderson as the suspect.
Police said detectives also determined Henderson left the Nashville area and traveled to Alabama after the message was sent.
Henderson is charged with threatening to commit an act of mass violence and making a false report of an emergency. He is expected to be returned to Nashville in the near future to face the charges.
Metro Police emphasized that threats involving construction sites, schools, government facilities, and similar locations are taken seriously and will be aggressively investigated.
As in all cases, the charges against the suspect are merely accusations, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
