Robertson County Schools Transportation Supervisor
Takes New Job In Wilson County
ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn news) – According to a release from the Wilson County Schools website, Jerry Partlow, Transportation Supervisor for Robertson County Schools has been named the new Wilson County Director of Transportation, a position he held previously.
Partlow, who has served as Transportation Supervisor for Robertson County Schools since July of 2013, previously worked for Wilson County Schools from September 1994 until June 2000, when the school system contracted with First Student Inc. to manage the transportation department, the release stated.
Partlow was told of the opening Tuesday night and immediately expressed interest in returning to the school system, according to the release.
“Jerry has over 20 years experience in school bus transportation, and 10 of those were spent as the head of transportation for Wilson County Schools,” according to Director of Schools Dr. Donna Wright. “In talking with many of the long-term drivers about when they felt the transportation department operated at its best, Jerry’s name was mentioned time and again.”
Hired in September 1994 as Director of Operations for Wilson County Schools, which included the Transportation Department at the time, Partlow held that position until July 1996 when he was reassigned as Transportation Coordinator, according to the release.
The release went on to say that Partlow held that position until 1998, when he was named Transportation Director of the school system. Even after the system contracted with First Student, Partlow continued as Transportation Director for the school system until 2004, when he accepted a position with First Student as a Regional Sales Director for the company.
While with First Student, Partlow worked with various school districts across the Southeast and assisted with new contract start-ups of large school districts from the Northeast to the Deep South.
“Drawing on his years of experience, we are confident Jerry will work diligently to improve the current operations of our Transportation Department by actively attracting drivers and supporting the current staff,” Wright said.
According to the release, Partlow said he is excited to return to his home county and to work with drivers he knew from his time in the system before, as well as new employees in the department.
“Wilson County Schools was a large part of my life for 20 years,” he said. “I look forward to coming home and working hard to make it the top-notch department I know it can be.”
Partlow’s first day on the job will be Thursday, Sept. 24.
“We are sad to see Jerry go and wish him all the best in the future. As we move forward, the existing staff will carry on operations until a replacement can be found.” Jim Bellis, Public Information Officer, Robertson County School.
Bellis also said that Robertson County Schools still has several open positions for bus drivers, click here to apply.
