“Sausage Biscuit” Takes Out Power in Downtown Springfield
SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The downtown area of Springfield is currently experiencing a power outage due to an accident on 7th Avenue.
The crash damaged a utility pole, snapping the top half in two and draping live wires over the awning at Austin & Bell Funeral Home. The wires in turn ignited the awning. Springfield Fire crews arrived quickly and extinguished the fire.
Former Springfield Mayor Billy Paul Carneal was behind the wheel of the vehicle that struck the utility pole. Carneal told Smokey Barn News, that he leaned over to pick up a sausage biscuit and before he knew it the pole was in front of him. Thankfully he was not injured.
Springfield Electric was quick to arrive on the scene and were able to reroute power restoring service to some customers but portions of downtown Springfield may remain without electricity for several hours as crews work to make repairs.
If Springfield adjusts the timeline for power restoration we will bring it to you.
