SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – Springfield Police are currently on the scene of a second shooting on 21st Avenue — this one on the west side of Main Street. The shooting occurred just nine hours after a shooting Saturday night on the east side of 21st Avenue. The victim in that case did not survive.

Now, early Sunday morning, Springfield Police were once again called back to 21st Avenue following reports of another shooting, the first call coming into 911 around 3:15 a.m.

When officers arrived, they discovered one individual suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to Skiline Medical Center in Nashville in critical condition. His current status has not been released.

A second individual was transported with an unrelated medical condition to TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield in stable condition.

At the scene, Robertson County EMS and the Springfield Fire Department worked quickly and diligently to provide emergency care before transporting the victims for further treatment.

Whether the two shootings are connected is unknown at this time. A large portion of 21st Avenue West remains closed as Springfield Police continue their investigation. Officers were still on scene as of this report.
