Sen. Roberts Rides Again-> To Remember Those Lost In Humphreys County Flood
ROBERTSON COUNTY: (Smokey Barn News) – State Senator Kerry Roberts (R-Springfield) announced today the details for a 100-mile bicycle ride to remember the 20 adults and children lost in the devastating Humphreys County flood two years ago.
Senator Roberts’ ride will be Saturday, August 19, 2023, beginning at the Robertson County Courthouse and ending at the Humphreys County Courthouse.
“Two years after the flood, families are still coping with lost loved ones, lost homes, and lost businesses. My goal is to refocus attention on the people of Humphreys County and remind Tennesseans that many are still in need,” said Senator Roberts.
The City of Waverly and Humphreys County will hold a Memorial Service at 8:00 pm on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at the site of the former Waverly Junior High School on 506 East Main Street. As rebuilding continues in Waverly, Roberts noted that Appalachia Service Project has worked diligently since the flood to rebuild homes in Waverly.
“Appalachia Service Project came to Waverly early and never left. They continue serving the people of Waverly and Humphreys County. It’s important that we recognize and support their efforts. Many people have homes today because of their dedication,” said Roberts. “I encourage people to donate to ASP or to volunteer their time.”

Finish: 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm, Humphreys County Courthouse, Waverly, TN
Special Note: The final 11 miles of the ride will follow the Trace Creek from McEwen to
Waverly, where so much of the devastation occurred. Roberts will ride into Waverly on E.
Main Street to the Courthouse in remembrance of the 20 children and adults who perished
in the flood.
