Senator Roberts announces $734,300 in Community Development Block Grants for Springfield and Vanleer
SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – State of Tennessee State Senate: State Senator Kerry Roberts (R-Sprinfield) announced today, July 11, 2018, that Springfield and Vanleer will receive a total of $734,300 in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (ECD). These grants are designed to assist cities and counties with infrastructure needs.
“I am pleased that Springfield and Vanleer will receive these grants and I want to thank our local officials who were instrumental in helping us secure these funds,” said Senator Roberts. “The grants will assist with vital services that improve public health and quality of life for citizens.”
Springfield will receive $525,000 for sewer system improvements to replace approximately 2,050 linear feet of collection sewer line to address capacity and overflow issues. Additionally, Vanleer will receive $209,300 for water line extension to install waterline to provide water service to thirty homes.
“It’s always great to see Tennessee communities taking the initiative to invest in themselves to create better environments for their residents to live and work,” said Governor Bill Haslam. “With the assistance of these grants, each community will be better equipped for success in our state and will continue to help Tennessee lead in economic development and job growth.”
