Springfield Area Home Destroyed By Fire Early Saturday

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Springfield area home is a “total loss” following a fire that engulfed the structure early Saturday.

The home is located outside city limits of Springfield in the 3900 block of Baggett Rd, the first call came into 911 at 3:21 am. MAP

The single occupant and owner of the property was able to escape the fire but the home is a total loss. According to Cross Plains Fire Chief Tommy Jackson, the cause of the fire was an ashtray on the front porch. From there the fire quickly spread to the attic and the rest of the home.

Chief Jackson reported that the resident awoke to the sound of the fire, discovering that his home was in flames. He was able to escape the fire without injury.

Chief Jackson said Firefighters were able to save about 25 percent of the property inside the home but much of the gentleman’s belongings were lost. Chief Jackson added that the homeowner was not carrying insurance on the structure.

The Cross Plains Fire Department, the White House Community Fire Department, the Orlinda Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, and the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency all responded to the call.
