Springfield Firefighters Save Family Home

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A home in Springfield suffered fire, smoke, and water damage after the structure ignited Monday evening.

The home is located in 1000 block of New Cut Rd/Blackpatch Dr. near William A Batson Pkwy. The initial call went out just after 10:30 pm. MAP

The Springfield Fire Department arrived quickly and saved a good portion of the home. According to the Director of the Emergency Management Agency Chance Holmes, Springfield Firefighters saved about 80% of the home.

Though a good portion of the home was saved, it will need repairs before it is livable again, officials said.

Two adults were home at the time of the fire, both made it out OK and no other injuries were reported, including the family cat who also escaped injury. Two children that also lived in the home were out at the time of the fire, officials said. A cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Springfield Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, and the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency all responded to the scene.

UPDATE: According to officials with the Springfield Fire Department, the fire started in a travel trailer and jumped to the home. The cause of the initial fire is still unknown.
