Springfield High School Mock Trial Team Win State Competition
The Springfield High School Mock Trial team bested St. Mary’s School from Memphis Tennessee to clinch their second straight State Championship in mock trial competition.
On Friday the group acted as prosecutors in competition with Dyersburg and Memphis schools. On Saturday, acting as the defense, they competed against the Chattanooga Home School Association and Jefferson County, winning both. Their final competition of the day was with St. Mary’s.
Competition judges awarded two SHS members with individual honors, recognizing Anighya Crocker as the Best Plaintiff Attorney of the competition, and Quivilo Sherrod as third-place in Best Plaintiff Witness.
SHS coaches named Maryellen Wooten as the team’s MVP for the series.
The group will now prepare for a national appearance in Raleigh, NC, from May 14-16.
