Springfield Man Hospitalized After Hit And Run On Mt Zion

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Springfield man headed out to get Captain D’s for dinner for himelf and his fiancée. He made it all the way to his own driveway located on Mt Zion Rd and was about to turn in when a vehicle hit him from behind at a high rate of speed. The accident occurred around 10:00PM Friday night.

As you can see from the photo, the impact was severe.  The driver was transported to NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield for treatment. We don’t believe his injuries are life threatening.

A neighbor told Smokey that his fiancée is recovering from heart surgery and was waiting at home. After the wreck she came outside and saw the badly damaged vehicle and started experiencing chest pains. She was also transported to NorthCrest.

The other driver fled the scene and the THP is still looking for the vehicle. The only description the victim was able to offer of the vehicle was that it was a pickup truck which will likely have heavy damage to the front end. After dark that section of road on Mt Zion is very dark so the victim was not able to get the color of the truck.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is currently looking for the vehicle. If you see the vehicle or if you have any information about this accident call *THP or *847 on any phone.
