Man Indicted For Sexual Exploitation Of A Minor
Police seek Additional Victims
In January 2014, with assistance from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Detectives with the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into allegations that 25 year-old Kyle Eric Smith of Chowning Road in Springfield, TN had been having inappropriate sexual contact with minors over the internet. This investigation began as a result of an investigation conducted by the Massachusetts State Police in 2013 alleging the defendant had inappropriate sexual contact with a 12 year-old victim.
The investigation revealed that Smith was using various social media sites to facilitate the contact with the alleged victim. These findings were presented to the May term of the Robertson County Grand Jury who returned an indictment on the defendant for Sexual Exploitation of a Minor (4 counts), and Sexual Exploitation of a Minor by Electronic Means (4 Counts). Kyle Eric Smith was arrested on 6/6/14 and booked into the Robertson County Detention Facility with a $10,000 bond. His initial court appearance is 7/11/14 at 9:00am in Robertson County Criminal Court.
