Springfield Man On The Run Following Saturday Shooting

On Saturday around 7:44 pm, Springfield police were dispatched to the intersection of 17th Ave E and West Hillcrest MAP in reference to a shooting, according to a release obtained by Smokey Barn News. When officers arrived, they discovered Jeffery Sanders age 32 of Springfield, sitting on the tailgate of a Nissan pickup truck with a gunshot wound.

Sanders told Police that he had been shot by Patrick Smith on Spruce Street MAP and was on his way to the hospital when he ran out of gas, the release said.

Sanders was transported by Robertson County EMS to Skyline Medical Center where his condition is unknown at this time.

Detective Charles Consiglio identified Patrick O’Neal Smith age 50 of Springfield as a suspect in the shooting.

There is a warrant on file for Attempted Criminal Homicide against Smith.

Springfield Police say that Smith should be considered to be armed and dangerous.
