Springfield PD Investigate Homicide At Legacy Village Apts

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – According to officials in Springfield, Police are currently investigating a homicide at Legacy Village Apartments.
Officials say the call came into 911 at 6:20am that a body had been discovered in a breezeway of the 2000 building at Legacy Village Apartments in Springfield. MAP
Police say it appears that the victim was shot two, possibly three times. Police told Smokey Barn News that they don’t, at the moment, believe the victim lives in the complex.
When officers arrived, they discovered the victim, now identified as Stephen Brown of Greenbrier Tennessee, deceased in the upstairs breezeway. Robertson County EMS pronounced Brown deceased at the scene.
It is believed that Brown was shot multiple times during some sort of argument or altercation at one of the apartments. Detectives have a suspect in custody and are interviewing multiple parties involved at this time. A 40 caliber handgun was recovered at the scene.
Springfield Detectives have charged Spencer Phillips, 29, of Gallatin Tennessee with Criminal Homicide in the shooting death of Stephen Brown.
The Robertson County Jail booking info indicates Phillips has been charged with 1st-Degree-Murder and no bone amount is listed.
The investigation has revealed that the suspect and victim did know each other and there is no danger to the public.
Springfield Police Chief David Thompson spoke to Smokey Barn News and reiterated that they do not believe there is any danger to the community at this time.
“It does not appear to be anything that’s random that residents need to be fearful of their safety right now,” Thompson said.
