Springfield Police Capture Suspect Following Vehicle Break-Ins

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – In the wake of a rash of vehicle burglaries in Greenbrier, Springfield was hit by a series of vehicle burglaries Monday night and Springfield Police have taken a suspect into custody.

“Following an investigation into a series of overnight vehicle break-ins, the Springfield Police Department arrested Brantavius T. Lewis, 18, who was charged with possession of stolen property, unlawful possession or carrying of a weapon, and possession of a prohibited weapon.”

Springfield Detectives continue to investigate the break-ins and encourage anyone with information, including surveillance or doorbell camera footage, to contact the Springfield Police Department at 615-384-8422.

Lewis was booked into the Robertson County Detention Facility in Springfield, where he is being held without bond.

The Greenbrier Police Department is also investigating a series of vehicle burglaries that occurred during the early morning hours of June 9, 2026 in their city.

According to Greenbrier Police, the burglaries occurred between approximately 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. At this time, investigators have identified as many as eight vehicles that were entered. There’s no word on whether the burglaries in Springfield are connected.

Police say two firearms were stolen during the burglaries, and one vehicle was also taken.

Investigators are asking residents in the areas of Church Street, Sunday Silence Drive, Wilson Street, and Green Meadow Court to review any surveillance or doorbell camera footage recorded between 3:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.

Anyone with video footage or information related to the investigation is asked to contact investigators at 615-913-0072 or send a message to the Greenbrier Police Department.

Police are also reminding residents to remove firearms and other valuables from unattended vehicles, always lock vehicle doors, even when parked at home, and report suspicious activity immediately.

The Greenbrier Police Department says community assistance and vigilance are appreciated as investigators work to identify those responsible and recover the stolen property.
