Springfield Restaurant Robbed At Gunpoint Thursday Night
Around 9:15PM Thursday evening two men entered Tio Chilo Mexican Restaurant on Main St., brandished a “tan pistol” and demanded money. Tio Chilo’s sits right on the corner of 11th and Main St in Downtown Springfield, just 400 feet from the Depot Bar and Grill. Restaurant staff complied and the robbers escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were two employees in the restaurant at the time of the robbery including the owner but being late there were no customers inside.
At one point one of the men, wearing a mask, ripped a necklace off of one of the victim’s neck and took a ring off of her finger.
Springfield police told Smokey that before leaving the restaurant, the two men cut the main phone line, took the victim’s cell phones and told them that if they stepped outside or told police they would kill them. The victims were told, “We know where you live.” Since the victims had no phone they went home and called police after the men left.
The suspects were described as two Hispanic males. One wearing a cream color shirt with blue jeans caring the tan pistol. The other suspect was wearing a mask.
Springfield Police are developing suspects this evening but they would like to ask the community for their help.
