Springfield Shooting Claims One Life Saturday Afternoon

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – One person has died following a fatal shooting in Springfield Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred on 21st Avenue East near Main Street, the first call coming into 911 at 6:46 pm. LOCATION OF SHOOTING According to the City of Springfield, officers responded to reports of a shooting and arrived to find a man suffering from a gunshot injury.
As Springfield Police secured the scene, Robertson County EMS began life-saving measures until the victim was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
According to Zachary Clark, Springfield’s Public Affairs Coordinator, the incident appears to be isolated and poses no immediate danger to the public. Detectives with the Springfield Police Department are actively investigating the case.
After initial treatment at TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield, the patient was transported to Skyline Medical Center for further care. Robertson County EMS Director Brent Dyer confirmed that the man “was in critical condition and required CPR at one point in transport.” Smokey Barn News has learned that the victim later died from his injuries.
Dyer added that air medical services were not available at the time of transfer, “likely due to weather,” so the patient was transported by ground to a nearby trauma center.
