Without crimes the Law would have absolutely no job security, with crime not all alone does it really get taken care of because of? you guest it correctly “Job security” for Police in giving jail time, oh! and even bondsmen get their cut, everybody wants a piece of the pie. If there was such a concern for the well-being of our citizens why isn’t there a live dispatch person answering our local calls? instead our calls are treated like a call answered by a company Operator, click please hold, you then hear the elevator music, one moment please, please hold your call will be answered in the order received, (pause) (advertisment) if you know your party extension please press the number then # or you may call this number for non-emergencies, going through all the electronic charlie brown teacher kind of rhetoric about this time this person is either injured or dead or vice versa.
I go shopping in Springfield only when I have to and only during daylight. I’m 21 and terrified because of the things that have happened to me and people that I know. A couple of weeks ago this man came up to me and asked if I would pay for his escort services , and I came very close to getting robbed once in Kroger parking lot. Watch your back, stay on guard and don’t go out alone!
A random, empty police car on the side of the road DOES NOT deter crime.
Its past time for Springfield’s leaders, residents and police force to take action to reclaim our once peaceful town.
It is the responsibility of each of us to take an active role. If those in lead positions (mayor, police chief, council members) don’t act as if there is a problem or don’t want to dirty their hands……vote them out of office.
Lets reclaim Springfield!!!
You do a great job reporting news to our county! We are concerned about the crime that goes on as well as the good news. I feel like you cover both and I appreciate you keeping us informed. Keep up the good work. It concerns me about so much crime going on but this tells me that we have to be more aware of our surroundings when we go out late at night or in the middle of the day.
We have been bombarded with bad news lately but here is a link to articles in our Good News Section: http://www.smokeybarn.com/category/community/
My husband doesn’t want me doing the shopping in Springfield anymore. He told me to go to Clarksville from now on. Clarksville is a 45 minute drive. It’s a shame, Springfield has gown down hill so fast.
I had a couple of UPS packages lifted off my doorstep before I got home after work a few days ago. The criminals made off with 120 rnds of ammo and close to a dozen 30 round mags. It makes me sick that it happened. Sadly the police can do nothing to stop the crime in this town.
Hmmmmm..I thought one of the robberies was a white male at a thrift store or was he black also?
Can you do a good story about our city every now and then. It would appear that we are all just robbing and killing up here. Every story you’ve posted lately has only made our city look like trash
These are thugs and dint deserve to breathe the same air as the rest if us
Over the past few weeks, several Robertson county homes have been broken into during broad daylight. People who work hard for an honest living are being robbed while they are away at their jobs. These criminals are on a rampage and no arrests have been made as of last night, so they are still on the loose. Please be aware. Get a security system, learn how to shoot a gun, and know that our “sleepy” little communities of Robertson county are being attacked by those with no respect, no concern for others, and no heart. We are victims.
