Sunday Afternoon Shooting On Memorial Blvd. In Springfield Triggers Investigation
SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A report of a “possible shooting victim” in downtown Springfield Sunday afternoon set the wheels in motion. The incident centered around two locations near the corner of Memorial Blvd and 10th Ave just before 6 pm. Police were focusing their investigation on the parking lot next door to Wendy’s and a second scene on 10th Ave adjacent to the CVS Pharmacy.
According to Robertson County EMS, one person was transported to Skyline Medical’s trauma center in Nashville with a gunshot wound to the leg, confirmed by officials in Springfield on Monday.
From witness accounts, an argument in the parking lot at 10th Ave and Memorial Blvd escalated, and one gunshot was heard. MAP From there, the shooting victim, (limping) headed up 10th Ave toward Main St. where he was intercepted by Robertson County EMS, the Springfield Fire Department, Springfield Police, and the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office.
Springfield Police were focusing their investigation on the Friends Market parking lot and Wendy’s restaurant. Wendy’s customers were coming and going during the investigation and the restaurant appeared to be open. It’s likely investigators were perusing surveillance video hoping it captured the parking lot next door or interviewing witnesses.
According to officials in Springfield on Monday, the gunshot victim is expected to recover. The Springfield Police Department is leading the investigation. It will likely be into Monday before they can piece together what happened. As soon as they are prepared to release their findings, we will bring them to you.
