Suspicious Suitcase Triggers Brief Main St Shutdown In Springfield

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Main St in downtown Springfield was briefly closed while the Emergency Management Agency investigated a suspicious package Wednesday morning.

The call came in just before 9 am. When officials arrived they quickly cordoned off the area around Main St and 8th Ave and shut down Main St. The package had been left under a bench adjacent to a parking area off Main St. STREET VIEW MAP

With protective gear, the Emergency Management Agency investigated and quickly determined that the package was just a discarded suitcase containing clothing. In all, the incident lasted about 15 minutes.

Robertson County EMS, Robertson County EMA, the Springfield Police Department and the Springfield Fire Department all responded to the call.
