TBI: Former Millersville Officer Charged with Official Misconduct

MILLERSVILLE, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A former Millersville police officer has been indicted following an investigation by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

According to officials, on June 26, at the request of 18th Judicial District Attorney General Thomas Dean, TBI agents launched an investigation into allegations involving Michael Singleton, age 33, an officer with the Millersville Police Department at the time.

Agents determined that earlier in the month, Singleton allegedly engaged in inappropriate contact with a resident at her home. During that interaction, investigators say he failed to notify dispatch of his location, did not properly document the encounter, and did not activate his body-worn camera.

On February 3, a Sumner County Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Singleton with one count of official misconduct.

Authorities say Singleton turned himself in to the Sumner County Jail on Saturday, where he was booked on a $5,000 bond.

All charges and allegations are accusations only. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
