TRAFFIC SAFETY ALERT
Smokey Barn News has confirmed that several police agencies are operating along Interstate 24 between Maxey Road and Highway 49.

Traffic is still moving but slow through the area. This appears to be a serious search operation, with airborne assistance from the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Though details are still limited, authorities are reportedly searching for a suspect in the area, possibly in the woods. At this time we believe the primary agency is Metro Nashville Police, though we are still working to confirm.

Motorists traveling through the area should use caution and be prepared for delays.

UPDATE: Authorities say a vehicle fleeing on I-24 crashed out earlier today. Both occupants ran from the vehicle. One suspect was taken into custody, while the second remains at large.

According to Metro Nashville Police, one of the two is a murder suspect, but it has not yet been confirmed whether the individual captured is the murder suspect or the other occupant.

Metro Nashville Police and Robertson County officials, with the assistance of the THP air unit, believe the remaining suspect is contained in a small area off the interstate as the search continues.
