Tobacco Barn Lost to Fire Friday Night

ORLINDA TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A tobacco barn was lost to fire Friday evening, according to officials.

The barn is located near the intersection of Pearson Rd and Cowan Rd at the top of the county near the Kentucky border. MAP According to officials, the barn has been classified as a total loss.

The fire started around 10pm Friday night.  Firefighters from Orlinda, Cross Plains and Adairville Kentucky were dispatched to the scene.

No word on a cause of the fire at this time.  This time of year is when our local tobacco farmers enter the final phase of the tobacco growing season. It’s when farmers begin the curing process in the beautiful smoking barns.

The loss of a tobacco barn this time of year is not just the loss of the barn, it’s the loss of thousands of dollars and months of hard work for a farmer.
