UPDATE: Keysburg Road Home Destroyed By Fire, Dogs Survive
ADAMS, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – More information has been released regarding the structure fire that occurred on Friday at a home in the 5700 block of Keysburg Road in the Adams area.
According to Adams Fire Chief Donovan Tucker, the home is considered a total loss. Fortunately, no injuries to residents or first responders were reported.
One of the biggest concerns during the fire involved the large number of dogs at the residence. According to Tucker, approximately 20 dogs were on the property. Five dogs were rescued directly from the burning home, and EMS personnel provided medical care to several of the animals. One smaller dog suffering from smoke inhalation was treated using a specialized pet oxygen mask and is reportedly doing well.
Despite early concerns, officials confirmed that all of the dogs survived the fire.
Animal Control responded to assist with the animals. According to Tucker, the dogs repeatedly attempted to return to the home and were also observed checking on firefighters as crews took breaks during the incident.
Multiple agencies responded to the fire, including Adams Fire Department, North Robertson Fire Department, Robertson County EMS Medic 6, Robertson County EMS Command, the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, Springfield Fire Department, Pleasant View Fire Department, Guthrie Fire Department, Allensville Fire Department, the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency units 801 and 802, along with several additional Kentucky fire departments.
The fire was initially reported with flames visible from the structure. Firefighters remained on scene for several hours battling the blaze as Keysburg Road was closed to traffic.
