Barrage Of Gunfire Triggers Multi-Scene Investigation In Springfield, One Dead

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Authorities in Springfield are investigating after a barrage of gunfire and 911 calls Saturday night. Robertson County EMS, the Springfield Fire Department, and the Springfield Police Department with the assistance of the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office were all called to multiple scenes over the span of about an hour starting just after 10 pm.

Springfield Police are leading the investigation that includes at least three different scenes. This is a developing story but what we have pieced together so far is, the incident began at 9:59 PM when Robertson County 911 dispatch received a complaint of shots fired in the area of 15th Ave. West at Bessie Street. MAP Officers were dispatched to investigate. Minutes later, at 10:07 PM, first responders were called to the parking area of the Ichiban restaurant on Memorial Blvd regarding a 43-year-old woman that had been struck in the leg by a ricochet round. MAP

The victim could be seen limping to the ambulance.  According to Robertson County EMS, the woman was transported to TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield with “minor injures.”

Moving forward in time, a flood of calls came into 911 regarding shots fired at 18th West and Leota St at 11:04 pm. MAP What appeared to be evidence markers for at least 30 shell casings were visible in the middle of the street with a maroon Nissan Altima at the center of police activity.

At least three rounds struck a home during the barrage of gunfire on 18th Ave W. Fortunately the family was not home but two rounds did penetrate a bedroom window and a third went through the front door of the home. A very dangerous situation if someone had been home.

CONFIRMED: Smokey Barn News has confirmed a second shooting victim was transported to TriStar NorthCrest by private vehicle. According to officials in Springfield, the victim (a male) has died. The name of the victim is being held pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy has been requested of the individual by the Medical Examiner’s Office.

Police were also seen in the parking lot of El Molcajete Mexican Restaurant which is next door to Ichiban, both very popular eateries in Springfield.

Officials in Springfield are still actively investigating but they have indicated they believe the incidents are directly connected to an isolated event involving some kind of dispute among parties. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Springfield Police Department at 615-384-8422.
