Vacant Springfield Home Ignites Sunday Evening

House Fire

SPRINGFIELD TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – A vacant Springfield home sustained heavy damage in a fire Sunday evening.

The home is located in the 800 block of Perry Drive. MAP The call came into 911 around 9:30. Initially, firefighters thought someone was trapped inside the home but later learned that the home was vacant and was in the process of a renovation.

According to officials at the scene, about 40 percent of the home, upstairs and down, sustained fire damage.

Investigators will now begin the process of trying to determine a cause of the fire. Debris removed from the home would suggest the fire may have started in the kitchen area.

The Springfield Fire Department, Robertson County EMS, the Robertson County Emergency Management Agency and Springfield Police all responded to the scene.
