(VIDEO) Mysterious Light Over Robertson County Sky Explained
ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – The unusual glowing object spotted in the early morning sky Tuesday over Robertson County has a surprisingly simple explanation.
Casey Maples of Barren Plains captured this incredible video recorded at approximately 5:39 a.m., shows a bright object moving through the sky, leaving behind a large, illuminated plume.
The spectacle was caused by a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida, at 5:33 a.m. Central Time, just six minutes before the video was recorded.
The rocket was carrying a Dragon spacecraft loaded with supplies and scientific equipment destined for the International Space Station.
The unusual appearance, sometimes called a “space jellyfish,” occurs when sunlight illuminates the rocket’s expanding exhaust high above Earth while the ground below remains dark.
The result is a dramatic glowing formation that can be seen hundreds of miles away, including here in Middle Tennessee.
