There is a fence around the property prohibiting fire crews to get in…
Smokey Barn News Friday January 17, 2014 Springfield, Tenn.
Firefighters were dispatched to a structure engulfed in flames on East Lake Rd across from Springfield High School (exact location of fire) around 7pm Friday evening. There is a fence surrounding the property that did delay firefighters but only momentarily. Cross Plains Fire and Orlinda Fire responded to the fire since the address though very near downtown Springfield actually sits outside city limits.
According to Cross Plains Fire Chief Tommy Jackson and one local resident we spoke to the structure has been abandoned for years. It was said to be an old Club House/Bait & Tackle Shop. Cross Plains Fire utilized their powerful deck gun (like a water cannon gun) which brought the fire under control quickly. The fire is out at this time but will most likely be under investigation since the structure was not connected to power.http://youtu.be/L1S40OFb1Q8 Smokey Barn News (Sponsor/Advertisement)
