WH Heritage Choir Gets High Marks At Austin Peay State (Hear For Yourself)
WHITE HOUSE TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – On Tuesday, February 11th the White House Heritage High School Chamber choir traveled to Austin Peay State University to perform in their annual Choral Performance Assessment. At the event, The Heritage Chamber Choir scored unanimous superior marks from all judges on their performance, becoming one of just a few local high school choirs to do so..
Directed by Ben Stephenshis, the performance results from several months of preparation and hard work on the part of the Chamber Choir singers. The assessment is held annually by the Middle Tennessee Vocal Association. Smokey Barn News obtained a video of their performance at Austin Peay for your review. I am incredibly proud of the determination, growth, and musical sensitivity of this group of students,” said Ben Stephens, White House Heritage High School Choir Director. “They have shown their dedication to the art of singing and musicianship throughout the entire school year and their performance at APSU highlights the grit and determination of these students. I am happy with their score and thrilled by their performance, but I am most proud of the sense of familiarity that has developed with these kids. They support each other, and look out for each other. They are a family.”
This is Stephens’s second year at White House Heritage High School and 11th year teaching choral music. His previous position was in Hopkinsville, Kentucky at Christian County High School. He has received two invitations for choirs to perform at the Kentucky Music Educators Conference. Stephens choirs have also received multiple distinguished ratings at both the district and state levels over the past several years.
“I love working at Heritage. The administration and faculty are outstanding and the kids are simply the best!,” Stephens said.
