Volunteer State Bank Robbed at Gunpoint Thursday Afternoon in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Springfield authorities, in coordination with the FBI, are investigating an armed robbery that occurred Thursday afternoon at Volunteer State Bank, located at the corner of Memorial Boulevard and Tom Austin Highway, adjacent to the Belk shopping center. According to officials, a suspect entered the bank, displayed a firearm, and demanded cash. After obtaining an undisclosed amount of money, the individual fled the scene, the first call coming into 911 at 1:59 p.m..

Springfield Police released surveillance photos of the suspect, police described as an African American male with a heavier build, and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him. Though no injuries were reported. Reportedly the suspect escaped with something north of 11k.

A cash reward is being offered for information leading to the suspect’s arrest. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to contact the Springfield Police Department at (615) 384-8422, Central Dispatch at (615) 384-4911, or the FBI’s Clarksville Field Office at (931) 503-7824.
