White House Heritage High School Celebrates Third Consecutive West Point Appointment
WHITE HOUSE: (Smokey Barn News) – White House Heritage High School proudly recognized the accomplishments of the Class of 2026 during graduation ceremonies held May 16 on the school’s football field. One of the evening’s highlights was the presentation of a prestigious appointment to the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Graduating senior Alexander “Alex” Malich received his official appointment to The United States Military Academy at West Point during the graduation ceremonies. The appointment was presented by Colonel (Ret.) D. Scott Gerblick, a 1993 graduate of the academy. School principal, Dr. Patrick Carneal added even more substance to the USMC presence as he, too, is a West Point graduate of the academy’s Class of 2000.
The occasion carried even greater meaning for the Heritage community, as Alex’s older brother, Dominic Malich, received the same honor just one year ago and is now a member of the USMA Class of 2029. Fellow Heritage graduate Erika Buckett earned a West Point appointment in 2024 and is part of the USMA Class of 2028. Alex will graduate from the USMA in 2030 to become an officer alongside his brother Dominic and his appointment now marks the third consecutive year a White House Heritage graduate has received this distinguished honor.
School leaders say the achievement speaks to the character, leadership, and academic preparation fostered at White House Heritage High School.
During the ceremony, Colonel Gerblick referenced a quote often used by the West Point History Department:
“Much of the history we teach was made by the people we taught.”
This quote served as a fitting reminder of the legacy of leadership and service represented by these Heritage graduates as they prepare to begin their respective journeys at one of the nation’s most respected military academies.
