Wintry Weather Mix Potential For Early This Week
ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Multiple waves of precipitation are expected this work week with two instances of wintry weather possible according to the US National Weather Service Nashville Tennessee.
“This forecast will change! There’s quite a bit of uncertainty with the timing and area of impacts, so please stay tuned to further updates!”
When:
Tuesday 12am-12pm: Light freezing rain and light freezing drizzle expected mainly west of I-65 and north of I-40.
Tuesday 12pm-6pm: All temperatures should get above freezing across Middle Tennessee temporarily ending the freezing rain/freezing drizzle threat.
Tuesday 6pm-Wednesday 12pm: Another round of wintry mix, freezing rain, and freezing drizzle is expected for much of Middle Tennessee with exception of far southern and southeast locations of Middle Tennessee.
Wednesday 12pm through the rest of the week: Remain above freezing so no additional wintry weather issues are expected.
Where: Locations west of I-65 and north of I-40 have the best chances to see freezing rain Tuesday morning. Areas west of I-65 have the best chances Wednesday morning for freezing rain. Total ice accumulations of up to 0.10″-0.20″ possible west of I-65. Elsewhere, ice accumulations of less than 0.10″ can be expected.
Potential Impacts:
There is uncertainty with how many impacts Middle Tennessee will see with these two waves of wintry weather. With any kind of freezing rain/freezing drizzle events, the worst impacts occur when temperatures are in the 27F-30F range. If this occurs, slick spots on bridges, overpasses, and roads will be expected. The good news is: Afternoon temperatures will reach above freezing both Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon ending the “freezing” aspect as well as quickly improving any impacts.
