Woman Who Died In Home Fire Shot Police Say.

Police say a woman found dead last Saturday night in a Pleasant View home fire was shot. Her name is Kim Moran and police have now officially ruled her death a homicide. According to a release from  police the Medical Examiner’s preliminary report on the victim from Sunday’s fire on Jack Teasley Road has ruled her death a homicide. According to the report, the official cause of death was via a gunshot wound.

Detectives are continuing the investigation into the cause of the fire. Although David Greenwood is deceased, his status as person of interest has been elevated to suspect in this case. Though his death complicates the investigation, detectives will continue their work looking into the homicide until the investigation is completed. The results of the investigation will be turned over to the District Attorney’s Office once finalized.

The Pleasant View home burnt to the ground and the lead suspect was killed in a shootout with police, so the investigation will be challenging for authorities.

According to The Robertson County Sheriffs Dept. David Greenwood, 49, died following the shootout with Etowah Police. Greenwood was a person of interest almost immediately following the fatal fire in Pleasant View but now that they know Kim Moran was shot they have officially ruled her death a homicide and Greenwood has been upgraded from “person of interest” to “suspect” according to police.

GREENWOOD CAPTURED IN SHOOTOUT

The Robertson County Sheriff’s Office has called off the search for David Greenwood, a person of interest in the recent house fire on Jack Teasley Road that killed Kim Moran. At just after 7:42PM this evening David Greenwood was located in McMinn County, TN and was apprehended as a result of a shootout with officers from the Etowah Police Department according to the Robertson County Sheriff’s Department.

According to a representative with McMinn dispatch it started with a call from a citizen reporting a reckless driver. They also said that Greenwood has been hospitalized as a result of the shooting and at last report no officers were shot in the altercation. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (T.B.I.) has taken over the case. It is normal for another police agency to take over in the event of an officer involved shooting.

This is still a developing story, we will bring you more information as it becomes available.
