After receiving messages from family members of one of the decedents, Smokey Barn News reached out to Americare for clarification on the classification of a COVID-19 death. They are confirming that the most recent COVID-19 death died “with” COVID-19 not “of” COVID-19.
“The resident she speaks of was taken to the hospital with cardiac issues. That is true but because the patient was COVID-19 positive, that is how we are required to report it. Any other explanation would have to come from the health department.” Americare
