Ambulance and Passenger Vehicle Collide on Tom Austin Highway

COOPERTOWN TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – An ambulance and a passenger vehicle collided on Tom Austin Highway at Old Hwy 431 near Coopertown Saturday afternoon. LOCATION OF CRASH The crash involved a TriStar HCA Skylife ground ambulance, which was transporting a patient from TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center at the time of the collision, the first call coming into 911 at 4:37 p.m.

The patient on board was not injured in the crash, and no injuries were reported from the other vehicle. However, one of the EMS personnel aboard the ambulance did sustain non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

The patient being transferred continued their journey to a Nashville medical facility via Robertson County EMS.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol is leading the investigation; however, the cause of the crash was not available. Two Robertson County ambulances responded to the scene with the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department, and Coopertown Police assisted.

And in a strange twist…

You may recognize that box truck in the background — and yes, it’s the very same box truck that landed on a pickup truck moments earlier on the same road, Tom Austin Highway. FULL STORY

After loading the box truck, the tow operator was heading up Tom Austin when this second crash unfolded right in front of him. His vehicle was not involved in the crash; he was simply a witness. The driver stopped immediately to render aid.

We did receive some messages from readers asking if the box truck or tow rig had somehow been involved in another crash. That’s not the case — just a very unusual coincidence.

If more information on either crash becomes available, we will bring it to you.
