Driver Seriously Injured in Two-Vehicle Rollover Near Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE (Smokey Barn News) – The Tennessee Highway Patrol is investigating a two-vehicle rollover crash that sent one person to an area hospital with serious injuries, the crash occurring right on Springfield’s border Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred in the 4300 block of Kinney’s Road, the first call coming into 911 at 3:20 PM. According to officials at the scene, the two vehicles either sideswiped or overcorrected to avoid each other and lost control. One of the vehicles left the roadway and rolled into a field. (LOCATION OF CAR ONE) That driver was seriously injured — officials called the injuries critical but said the driver would likely survive, according to Robertson County EMS.

The occupants of the second vehicle were not transported.

Both vehicles ended up a half a mile apart (PROXIMITY DISTANCE MAP) One inside the city of Springfield (LOCATION OF CAR ONE) and the other outside (LOCATION OF CAR ONE) With one car outside the city limits the the other car inside, the crash triggered a large response from area first responders, including the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Robertson County Sheriff’s Office, Springfield Police, Robertson County EMS, North Robertson Fire & Rescue, and other Springfield resources.

The cause of the crash was not immediately available. THP is leading the investigation.
