Jo Helen Shults
November 10, 1935 — December 25, 2025
Madison, TN
Jo Helen Shults, a beloved matriarch, passed away on December 25, 2025, at the age of 90, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and joy. Born on November 10, 1935, in Jackson County, she lived a full and vibrant life devoted to her family.
Jo was known for her sweet and friendly nature, always finding a way to uplift those around her. She never spoke a negative word, embodying a spirit of positivity that drew people to her. Her love for cooking and baking was well-known; she warmly opened her home and generously shared meals with anyone who came to visit. Jo found joy in her faith and community service.
Jo was particularly proud of her grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Granny”. They were the light of her life, and she delighted in their accomplishments and shared moments together. Her family includes her son, Ronnie Shults; her grandchildren, Destiny (Jovani) Shults, Joshua Shults, and Brittney Coggins; and her great-grandchildren, Pierre, Isiah, and Kingston. Jo Helen’s siblings, James Wade, Nell Tidwell, and Kathleen Merritt, also cherish the fond memories they shared with her.
She is reunited in eternal rest with her husband, Ottis Shults; her son, David Shults; her grandson, Ottis Shults; and her siblings, Mary Elizabeth Travis and Ernest Wade. They will forever hold a special place in her heart and continue to inspire her family.
Family, friends, and everyone whose life she touched are invited to honor Jo Helen’s memory during the visitation on December 30, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Goodlettsville, TN. A Celebration of Life will take place on December 31, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at the funeral home, followed by a Graveside Service at Vinson Cemetery in Granville, TN, starting at 1:00 PM.
Jo Helen Shults will be remembered not only for her loving spirit but also for her unwavering commitment to her family and her faith. She leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew her, and her memory will live on through the lives she enriched.

Rita Erwin
September 28, 1934 — December 26, 2025
Rita Erwin, a cherished member of her family and community, was born on September 28, 1934, in Savannah, Tennessee. She passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and vibrant friendships.
Rita’s career in the beauty industry began after she attended and graduated from Helena Dye Beauty College in Nashville, where she earned a degree in Cosmology, inspired by her sister’s footsteps. Starting her journey in Portland, Tennessee, she opened her own salon, where her unique personality and steadfast work ethic flourished. Rita’s dedication to her craft allowed her to thrive, leading her to open another salon in White House, closer to her home.
After many successful years running her salon, she transitioned into a new chapter, working alongside her husband at their family business, B.F. Myers Furniture Store. Her drive and morale enabled her to prosper in both professions, making her a beloved figure in the lives of her customers and colleagues.
Rita was known for her hardworking nature and her ability to cultivate lasting friendships through her work, which extended into her time spent in White House, Goodlettsville, and Naples, Florida. She was the ultimate hostess, ensuring that everyone in her presence felt valued and entertained. After retiring B.F. Myers, she and her husband would winter in Naples, FL and took up the game of golf and spent many years enjoying the companionship of golf.
Above all, Rita was a devoted mother, who took pride in caring for her family’s varied needs, both big and small. She instilled values of organization and attention to detail, teaching that each day is begun by making the bed, and keeping your room and thoughts organized.
Rita was a believer in our Lord and Savior and a faithful member of Connell United Methodist Church.
Rita was lovingly referred to as “Grandmother” by her grandchildren, who include Julianne (Spencer) Goodwin and Bethany (Luke) Mitchell. Her great-grandchildren, Graham and Oliver Goodwin, called her “GiGi,” a reflection of the special bond she shared with them.
Rita is survived by her son, Bob (Amy) Erwin, as well as a host of many other family members who will deeply miss her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe Erwin, and several siblings, including Kay Rutherford, Dick Hardin, Austin Hardin, Edgar Hardin, Gerneil Cary, Sarah Covington, and Ann Phillips; and her parents, Edgar and Juanita Hardin.
Rita Erwin will be remembered for her indelible spirit, her unwavering dedication to her family and community, and the countless lives she touched through her warmth, laughter, and love. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she cherished and who cherished her.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2nd from 4-7pm at Cole and Garrett Funeral Home in Goodlettsville. Another visitation will be held from 10-11am on Saturday, January 3rd at Connell United Methodist Church with the service beginning at 11am at the church.
Family will hold a private graveside service.

Donnie Eley
February 20, 1946 – December 23, 2025
Donald Ray Eley “Donnie”, age 79, of Chapmansboro, Tennessee, died Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 o’clock pm, Monday, December 29th, at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Bro. Gene Brown officiating.
Burial will follow in the Eley Cemetery in Chapmansboro with Elliott Eley, Evan Eley, Dale Garrett, Tim Elliott, David Elliott, Nathan Wallace, Ethan Peterson, and Jeff Head serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Tom Boatwright, Tommy Winters, Robert Head, Ricky Knox, Warren Wallace, and William Gailie.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, December 28th from 3:00-7:00PM, and again on Monday beginning at 12:00PM until the hour of service at 1:00PM.
Mr. Donnie was born on February 20, 1946, in Springfield Tennessee, to the late Conway and Catherine Winters Eley. He was retired from the telephone company after 30 years of service. Following retirement, he enjoyed raising cows and gardening on his farm in Chapmansboro. He was also an avid lover of antique automobiles and often worked on his ’57 Chevy Bel Air. Donnie was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Stroudsville Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, Harold Eley, and a sister, Helen Eley Head.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Ann Elliott Eley of 60 years of marriage…a daughter, Shannon Eley (Dale) Garrett, son, Elliott (Amanda) Eley, son, Evan Eley and brother, Connie Eley. He is also survived by four granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

Beverly Kay Potts

Beverly Kay Potts (Vaughn), age 67, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on December 24, 2025.
Born in Wrigley, Tennessee, Beverly later made her home in White House, Tennessee, where she devoted her life to family, friendship, and caring for others. She was a devoted wife to the love of her life, Gary Potts, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.
Beverly was a loving mother and grandmother whose greatest joy came from her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Gary Potts; her sons, Shannon Potts (Lori) and Jeffrey Potts; her daughter, Terrah McCann; her four cherished grandchildren, Madysen Potts, Mia Potts, Aidan Cottar, and Lincoln McCann; and extended family members, including Mickey and Sharon Thompson (Potts), as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Grover Vaughn; her mother, Olive Thomasson (Estes); her brother, Kevin Huffaker; and her sister, Ardith Mathis.
A dedicated nurse for 29 years, Beverly cared deeply for her patients and was known for her compassion, kindness, and unwavering support.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held on February 7, 2026.at White House Church of Christ with Bro. David Swanger officiating. Renee Dean Marquiss, age 78, of Pleasant View, Tennessee, died Thursday, December 25, 2025, at her home.

Mrs. Renee was born on April 6, 1947, in Olean, New York, to the late Spalding & Edythe Bell. She was the owner and broker of The Cumberland Agency Real Estate Company. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, crocheting, and cooking. She was a very spiritual woman who began an online Bible study after being unable to attend services at Brewer’s Chapel Church.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Charles “Chic” Marquiss; and brother, Dennis Bell.
She is survived by her son, Michael Brandon (Dawn) Vester of Pleasant View; brother, Jerome (Connie) Bell of Clarksville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Myranda Lynn (Josh) Steinburg of Columbia, Tennessee, Stella (Sgt. Richard Alan McGunigale, age 70 of Madisonville, KY passed away Friday, December 26th, 2025 in Greenbrier, TN. There are no services planned.
Richard was born in Johnstown, PA on January 14, 1955 to the late Richard Carl and Arlene Marie Kieser McGunigale.
He was a retired Lt. in the US Navy and retired as well from the US Postal Service. He was a BIG Steelers fan and enjoyed puzzle’s, board games and electrical work.

Mrs. Daniels was born July 28, 1957, in Denver, CO., to the late Jesse James Elliott, and the late Phyillis Irene Donkin Elliott. She was the former owner of a convenience store/restaurant.

She is survived by her children, Terry (Deb) Coulter, Cindy (Randall) Moulton, Don (Pam) Felts, Karen (Troy) Galbreath, and Beth (Randy) Harris; grandchildren, Jonathan, Andrew, Victoria, Trevor, Hayley, Summer, Ashley, Hannah, Callie, Karlie, Emma, Troy, Kristi, Brad, Richie, and Bryant; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Sherry Hornberger & Gene Hornberger; and fur-baby, Flo.

Richard “Rickey” Gregg DeWeese, age 68 of White House, TN passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at his home. He was born March 23, 1957 in Franklin, KY to Garvis Rudolph & Anna Belle Gentry DeWeese. He worked as a machine operator at Outokumpu before becoming disabled. He enjoyed classic rock and roll music, classic cars, drawing and spending time with his grandchildren.
He loved being their Pop. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Janet Johnson DeWeese; grandson, Aspen Ragland; brother, Gerry DeWeese. He is survived by his daughter, Megan (Jon) DeWeese; brothers, Brent (Janna) DeWeese and Brian DeWeese, all of Franklin, KY; 2 grandchildren, Aurora Ragland and Violet Zambrano, Franklin, KY; his cat, Simba.
A Celebration of Life memorial service is being planned when the weather becomes warmer and this obituary will be updated when those arrangements are finalized. Audrey Ann Bess Greer
Age 88 of Brentwood, TN passed peacefully in her sleep at home on November 16, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her husband John Greer, her older sister Evelyn Winters and older brother George Bess.
Born in Ashland City, Tennessee to Dewey Franklin Bess and Cora Marie Binkley Bess
Her early career included working at Third National Bank where she eventually became in 1959, one of Sports’ first woman executives as Vice President for the Nashville VOLS minor league baseball team. Through Herschel Greer, who was instrumental in Nashville’s baseball history from the Nashville VOLS through the Nashville Sounds, she met the love of her life John Greer. John’s sister Barbara worked closely with Audrey at Third National Bank and helped cement Audrey and John’s sixty year marriage.
Some of Audrey’s most notable accomplishments included serving as President of Middle Tennessee’s Muscular Dystrophy Association and President of her local Garden Club. A gifted artist with a creative spirit, she also ran her own wallpapering business called “The Paper Dolls.”
Those who knew Audrey remembered her for her wonderful sense of humor, kindness, generosity, affection and warmth. She seemed to be a best friend to everyone. She is survived by her sons David and John, her grandchildren Chandler, Jackson, Rainier and Noah as well as her great grandchildren Ryker, Raelyn and Raya.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, January 2, 2026, at the Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View. The Family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30am on Friday before the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Gary Sinise Foundation will be accepted.

Carol Anita Curtsinger, age 74 of White House passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at Signature Health Care in Portland. She was born November 14, 1951 in Nashville, TN to James and Dorothy Esteline Kidd Ellis. She worked as a secretary for the State of Tennessee before her retirement.
She was a member of The Church at Grace Park. She loved attending church, listening to gospel music and most of all she enjoyed raising her boys. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Kenneth Mike Curtsinger. She is survived by her sons, Ty (Laci) Curtsinger, White House, TN and Cody (Holly) Curtsinger, Madison, AL; brother, Terry Ellis, Hendersonville, TN; sister, Teena Ellis, Panama City, FL; 6 grandchildren, Bella, Emma, Carter, Livvy, Andrew and Ethan.
A memorial service is planned for Friday, January 2, 2025 at 3pm in the chapel of Austin & Bell Funeral Home in White House with Dr. Ashley Mofield officiating. Inurnment of her ashes is scheduled for 12noon on January 2, 2025 at the Hillcrest Cemetery Columbarium. Don Nicholson

Donald Ray Nicholson “Don”, age 91, of Pleasant View, Tennessee died Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Residence at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00PM on Saturday, January 3rd, 2026 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home in Pleasant View with Pastor Brad Shockley officiating, and a eulogy delivered by his son-in-law, Toney Collier.

Mr. Don was born on March 26, 1934, in Robertson County, Tennessee, to the late Pitt “Dock” & Viola Woodall Nicholson. He was a retired supervisor with Acme Boot Company with 40 years of service. After retirement, Don worked 15 years at the Pleasant View Car Wash where he was a fixture that everyone enjoyed seeing. He was a founding member of the Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department and the Cheatham County Rescue Squad. Mr. Don was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of Pleasant View First Baptist.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Terry Nicholson; brothers, Wallace Nicholson and Austin “Natt” Nicholson; and sister, Troyce Gupton.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, June Krantz Nicholson; daughter, Donna Collier and husband, Toney; brothers, Wayne Nicholson and Danny Nicholson; and sister, Patty Barr (Tom); grandchildren, Alex Landburg & Max Anderson; and numerous nieces & nephews.

Patricia Lynn “Pat” Baumann passed away Monday, December 22, 2025 at White House Health Care. She was born September 5, 1933 in Ridgetop, TN to Cleo Paul & Myra Robb Poole. She worked as a homemaker, enjoyed antiquing and was a member of the Ridgetop Historical Society and the Goodlettsville Garden Club.
Pat was also a member of Ascension Lutheran Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Gerhard Friedrich Baumann in 1997; brother, Joe Kenneth Poole; brother-in-law, Jimmy Palmer. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Frank (Patricia) Baumann, Lafayette, TN; sister, Robbye Palmer; 3 grandchildren, Daniel Baumann, David Baumann and Rachael Baumann.
Funeral service is scheduled for Monday, January 5, 2026 at 11:30AM at Ascension Lutheran Church 610 West Old Hickory Blvd. Madison, TN 37115, with Pastor Greg Koch officiating. Interment will follow at 2pm in Middle Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery with Pastor Jon Briggs officiating. Visitation is planned for Monday, January 5, 2026 10:30AM-11:30AM, one hour prior to the service at the church.
