GOAT INVESTIGATION UPDATE: Charges Filed Over Disposal of Remains
ROBERTSON COUNTY, TENNESSEE (SMOKEY BARN NEWS): If you recall, on April 10, 2026, Smokey Barn News reported on goats found dead in Coopertown, believed to have been killed by an unknown animal.

Now, in a development connected to that same property, the owner of the goats has been charged, not in relation to how the animals died, but over how one of the animals’ remains was handled afterward.
According to booking records and an affidavit from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture, Billy Eugene Brown Jr., 62, was arrested on a warrant alleging failure to properly dispose of a deceased animal. The charge stems from a complaint that a goat carcass was located near a property line. According to the affidavit, State officials ordered Brown to dispose of the carcass within 48 hours. The affidavit states that he did not comply.
The affidavit indicates the issue centers on compliance with state disposal requirements. It does not address or determine what caused the animals’ deaths.
Brown was booked into the Robertson County Detention Facility on a $5,000 bond and later released.
Reportedly, more than 15 goats have died following the attack, with Brown telling Smokey Barn News that some died the day of the incident and others in the days that followed from their injuries. As for the cause of the April 10 attack, the Robertson County Sheriff’s Office told Smokey Barn News they will “investigate any new leads received.”
All charges are allegations, and Brown is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
