Quick Response Prevents Total Loss After Springfield Home Ignites

SPRINGFIELD, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Springfield home ignited Tuesday morning, triggering a swift and aggressive response from local firefighters who quickly brought the blaze under control, preventing what could have been a total loss of the residence.

The first call came into 911 at 11:47 a.m. for a structure fire on Grandview Avenue near downtown Springfield. The Springfield Fire Department, Springfield Police Department, and Robertson County EMS all responded to the scene.

According to Springfield Fire Chief Jeff Glodoski, the fire may have originated in the kitchen before extending into the attic space. The attic fire presented additional challenges for firefighters due to accessibility issues, but crews were able to quickly locate and extinguish the blaze.

Chief Glodoski estimated that approximately 30% of the home sustained direct fire damage. However, smoke and water damage are expected throughout much of the residence.

Fortunately, no serious injuries were reported, and no one was transported from the scene.

UPDATE: According to Chief Glodoski, the resident went to her doctor, who sent her to Skyline Medical Center in Nashville with 2nd-degree burns.

The cause of the fire has not yet been released. As new details emerge regarding the origin and cause of the fire, Smokey Barn News will provide updates.
