Multiple Fire Departments Battle Westmoreland House Fire
WESTMORELAND, TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – A Westmoreland-area home in Sumner County sustained heavy damage following a fire that broke out around 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
Multiple fire departments from Tennessee and Kentucky responded to the home located in the 1100 block of East George Durham Road, MAP ,which sits near the Tennessee-Kentucky state line. Crews remained on the scene into the afternoon as first responders battled both the fire and the tremendous heat wave gripping Middle Tennessee.
Responding agencies include, Highland Volunteer Fire Department, Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department, the City of Westmoreland Fire Department, Scottsville Fire Department in Kentucky, and a department from the Adolphus, Kentucky area.
Due to the tremendous heat, Rehab 83 was called to the scene to provide support for firefighters. Rehab 83, also known as the Sumner County Fire Buffs, is an all-volunteer organization that responds to extended emergency scenes, providing firefighters and other first responders with hydration, snacks, cooling, chairs and a place to recover before returning to duty.
