Can Parking At The Fair Save Lives? (A Smokey Exclusive)

SPRINGFIELD/ROBERTSON COUNTY TENNESSEE: (Smokey Barn News) – Did you know that you can help firefighters save lives just by parking your car at the fair? That’s right, the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department raises funds for equipment, training, and personnel by hosting a parking lot at the Robertson County Fair each year!! Parking in their paid lot is almost like manning a fire engine all by yourself! OK, maybe not but every time our brave firefighters save someone’s home, you’ll be standing right there with them in spirit!!

Every year during the Robertson County Fair, the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department pairs up with the American Legion to offer parking at the ballfield directly across from the fairgrounds.

The White House Community Volunteer Fire Department Department is made up of 100% volunteers and with only two fundraisers a year, each one must count!  The money is used to buy/repair and replace badly needed firefighting and lifesaving tools.

This year they need helmets and turnout gear (suits) due to the gear being outdated. Good equipment helps to protect our Firefighters and in turn, that helps them save lives!

According to White House Community Volunteer Fire Department Press Liaison, Tara Parker,  it costs roughly $13,480 dollars per firefighter to have the helmet and turnout gear needed to safely make calls. WOW that’s a lot!!  “Having 40 volunteers to outfit can get expensive on top of the fuel bills, truck notes, and everyday bills for each station. It can get rough on the funds to get the things we need, that is why fundraising is so important to us,” Parker said.

So remember, when you go to the Robertson County Fair, look for the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department Department parking lot across from the fair! PRICE: $15 per vehicle.

If you are not going to the fair but would like to make a drive-by donation anyway, they’ll have a bucket set up next to one of their fire engines that will be parked in the center lane of Memorial Blvd during the fair.  Pull on up and say “I’d like to make a donation!” The firefighters will then stop all traffic, gather around your car, and sing you a song!! OK, not really, but they will in thought because your donations really matter! To See the White House Community Volunteer Fire Department in action-> CLICK HERE FOR NEWS REPORTS
